Obligatory Tuesday US!Skins Post

O HAI NEW FANDOM. Overall, I liked it quite a lot! I don't think I was ever going to love it just because I didn't like the original pilot all that much, but I think there's a lot of potential there and I'm excited about where it's going to go. I was never hugely into gen 1 in the first place, so I don't really mind seeing the characters change.

I already like Stanley, Michelle and Cadie better than the originals, I think, and I feel like I haven't seen enough of Daisy and Abbud to decide. Tony seems okay? Very different to Nick Hoult's Tony, but I like that most of them are quite different because it's easier to see them as completely separate characters. I wasn't really feeling Chris, I have to say, which seems like an unpopular opinion from the few reaction posts I've read. IDK why, he just kind of bugged me.

Eura will never be Effy. I'm so much more precious about gen 2 than gen 1, so I'll probably find it a lot harder to like her than any of the others.

TEA. Loved her, but then I'd already decided she was going to be awesome and it probably would have taken a lot to convince me otherwise. (I feel cheated out of seeing Lezzerama, though. Now there's a wasted opportunity.) Can't wait for her episode next week! There's a trailer floating around but it's one of those fucking region-locked affairs so I can't see it. Does anyone know if it's on Youtube?

Yeah, I saw that one but figured it wasn't the trailer that everyone had posted. It must show up eventually, right? Or maybe I'll just have the pleasure of being ~unspoiled.

The pilot wasn't super exciting, but I think there's a lot of potential, and that ~is exciting. I was least thrilled with Tony; a lot of his line delivery was really awkward, but I do like that it's a different approach to the character and I think he'll get better. Tea was awesome, Cadie was awesome, I think Daisy and Chris are both going to be great, and I prefer Abbud to Anwar. I'm really attached to UK!Michelle, so for me, they're big shoes to fill, but I really like Rachel and think US!Michelle is going to end up being awesome. (MTE on Eura.)

The majority of the adult actors were TERRIBLE. Tony's dad, just, I can't even.

Glad so many people have fallen on the tentatively hopeful side of things. I don't have a youtube link for the Tea preview, but suffice it to say that it looks like it's going to be fucking awesome. \O/

Oh my God, I'd forgotten about the adults. The thing that's fun about the parents in the UK version is that they're all (or mostly) pretty well-known British comic actors, whereas they obviously just picked some awful randoms for the Snyders. (Not that I was expecting well-known actors in this, but the difference was pretty stark.)

I really feel like next week is when US!Skins is really going to show us what it's made of, and I can't wait. Even without seeing the trailer I think it's going to be great! (LOL unintentional rhyme.)

It's unfortunate, because despite some ridiculously over-the-top moments with adult characters in the UK version, there's also been some really great ones, and I don't think we're gonna get that in the US version. Oh well.

I'm really stoked they chose to make ep 2 original. I understand the reasoning behind the pilot being so similar, and keeping some storylines throughout the series, but it's nice that they're just sort of kicking it out of the nest and seeing if it can do its own thing.

Tea was awesome - I really can't wait for her ep, because it was definitely the new stuff that I enjoyed most, so I'm really looking forward to seeing an ep that's not basically a straight copy of the original. I also think that's why I liked Cadie so much, because she was so different from Cassie. Not hugely sure about most of the others - we've not really seen enough of them for me to make up my mind.

MTE on Eura. Kaya just owned Effy (and so beautifully), so unless new girl makes a major attempt at making Eura drastically different from Effy, I just can't see myself warming to her.

I agree on Stanley and Michelle being better than the originals, and I like that Cadie is played so differently form Cassie that I don't feel a need to compare. I'm optimistic on liking Daisy and Abbud better than the originals as well.

Can't wait for next week. I think Tea's gonna rock.

Thanks! I'm really intrigued about who the secondary character will be. And I feel like it's weird that they're apparently ending on Eura, just because for some reason I keep forgetting she even exists.
