(no subject)

Decemberists were AMAAAAAZING, OMG.

So they did all of Hazards of Love, and OMG, just. Fucking amazing, seriously.

Highlights:

- The Wanting Comes in Waves/Repaid; Shara Worden is seriously brilliant live, and I just wish she had vocals on more tracks, because she was probably my favourite thing about the concert.
- The Rake's Song; not my favourite track off the album but it AMAZING live; they had five of them drumming at the same time and it was awesome.
- The Queen's Rebuke/The Crossing; MOAR SHARA YAY plus awesome awesome instrumental part.
- The Drowned! OMG, that SONG. One of my favourites of theirs, definitely.

And then the second set went something like this:

The Sporting Life
July, July! (Colin introduced this as a song about summer and I assumed it was going to be Summersong; SO PLEASED it was July, July! instead)
THE LEGIONNAIRE'S LAMENT AKDJHFJKADHF
The Engine Driver ♥
Dracula's Daughter
The Bachelor and the Bride
The Chimbley Sweep (complete with crowd-related tomfoolery)
O Valencia
Some song I didn't know that Shara and Becky sang

Possibly not in that order! We had to miss the encore in order to catch our bus, and apparently it was a new song and Sons & Daughters, so I don't feel like I missed out too much.

OMG, IT WAS SO GOOD. And now I really want them to release another album, heh.

Oh, glad you had a great time! Shara Worden is terrific, isn't she? I adore the Legionnaire's Lament and Engine Driver also - I was listening to the latter yesterday at work. I get a little fixated on songs I like - lol. They always do Dracula's Daughter! I wish they'd replace it with Crane Wife or something like that - oh well. The new stuff is good - I heard it streamed live from Newport Folk Festival and liked it. Love the Wanting Comes in Waves/Repaid also. Well, I'll shut up now - off to work.

LOL my friend I'm seeing them with tonight just emailed me excitedly to tell me HER friend went and it was AWESOME and they played HoL straight through and then did lots of other stuff! So I am slightly spoiled after all, though mostly EXCITED YAAAY HOL! And not looking at your details of what else there is. OMFG SO EXCITED.

I love the Engine Driver!

I also still need to get Hazards of Love, along with what seems like EVERY ALBUM EVER, at the moment. :(

*GIBBERS* HOW HOW HOW SO AMAZING!!!!!! The Wanting Comes in Waves/Repaid was just BREATHTAKING - I usually prefer the "Wanting" bits when I listen to it, but here the "Repaid" bits were just. OH MY GOD SO FUCKING FABULOUS. SHE WAS AMAZING. Also hot!

I love the Rake's Song ANYWAY but LIVE? AMAZING. SLDKGHSDLGHDG. GOD I COULD JUST WATCH THEM PERFORM HOL FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE.

We had a really different second set! And all actual songs, none I didn't know or covers or anything, which pleases me. Let me think:
The Engine Driver
16 Military Wives
Eli the Barrowboy
Shiny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was rather excited.
Crane Wife 3
O, Valencia
Yankee Bayonet
Billy Liar
The Legionnaire's Lament
--obvs not in that order, that was me going through albums to remember what they did.

THEN THEY ENDED WITH THE MARINER'S REVENGE SONG IT WAS 100000000% FABULOUS. The crowd was yelling along and there was an INFLATABLE WHALE being tossed around.
