botherd | 20 days! I CAN'T BELIEVE WE SURVIVED THIS EPIC HIATUS.

So it looks like the first episode of Skins series four is about Thomas. I'm... pleased, I think. I think I'm pleased? The thing is, I like Thomas and I think he was criminally underused last series, but I'm... not actually all that interested in him. Or maybe it's that I'm not invested in him. So I don't mind him getting the first episode, and I really hope it's good (sounds like it is), but I'm not sure I want him to get a big story arc over the whole series.

I think my main worry is that JJ, who I like a whole lot more, is going to get sidelined. I'd be amazed if Effy, Freddie, Cook, Naomi, and Emily didn't each get individual episodes, and we know that Thomas and Katie (yay!) do, and that's seven. If the finale is Everyone, that means no episodes for JJ and Pandora. Obviously it might not shake out like that, maybe some people are sharing episodes, but that's my guess at the most likely scenario.

So, yeah. Looking forward to Thomas' episode, but hoping he doesn't take screentime away from my favourites. (He's quite welcome to take screentime away from Cook and Freddie, but I seriously doubt that'll happen.)

I like Panda, but I doubt she's got a whole lot of story left. Ditto Freddie, only less like (apart from for his looks). Whereas with JJ, he's not only awesome but there's a whole lot yet to explore.

Yeah, I don't anticipate that we'll get a whole lot about Panda this seres, and I don't mind too much. Freddie is useless and doesn't deserve to have more screentime than JJ, but I'm not sure the writers actually realise that.

I'm not too fussed about Thomas at the moment, but I feel that might just be due to the fact that we haven't really seen much of him and am theerfore not invested in him, like you said. I think he's going to get much more screen time this series so we'll see.

If Freddie gets his own episode and JJ doesn't, I'm going to be so pissed :( I love JJ.

bah. i'm just not that interested in thomas. as long as i get to see a little emily or naomi, i guess. or both. i'm a little bummed he's first, haha. but it's almost ovaaaaarrr.

At least if he's first, his ep is over with quickly! I'd much rather that than have him take up one of the later climactic episodes.

I really hope the episodes have more of an ensemble feel this year rather than being strictly focused on one character, but I have no idea what it'll actually be like.

Yeah, I do think it's the criminal under/misuse of him last season that leaves me basically uninterested in him, because I remember watching his ep and thinking it was AWESOME and wanting more Thomas, but then other things happened and I got distracted or something I suppose :p

Yeah, I did really enjoy Thomas' episode last series, but I suppose I just don't feel like he's really an essential part of the cast.

Also, im not just saying this because I dont like him, i really dont believe Freddie could have an ep to himself again. The peeps who made it recognize Naomily and Katie so they must see Freddie is a fail.
They tried to give him issues to deal with last year and it didnt work and I dont see what kind of storyline he could have.

Oh, I completely agree that Freddie is made of fail, but as the writers seem to have decided that he's Effy's ~true love~ I expect him to still have a fairly large part. I would LOVE to be proven wrong!

I hate that he is seen as that, im not that much of a fan of Effy, but giving her Freddie totally degrades her character. I hope they finish it with her single :)

I agree! But I just don't think it's terribly likely. :( I mean, it would be amazing if JJ got his own episode and Freddie didn't, but I don't see it happening. I HOPE I'M WRONG.

I think Thomas is a really interesting character to start with, they left a lot unexplained with him last series and although his character was pretty much forgotten about after ep3 i remember i really loved him when I first saw ep3 and am really glad ep1 is Thomas and not Freddie like some people were saying a while ago.

From what we've heard from JB, no one is sharing eps and I'm fairly positive it's going to be Freddie and Panda that get cut which doesn't bother me at all. JJ's ep was one that I think the writers and the whole Skins bosses/directors/importantpeople were really proud of so I really don't think they wouldn't give him one this time round (or at least i really hope so because i love both Ollie and JJ!).
Panda and Freddie are both characters who I think can still be developed through other characters so probably don't need their own episodes as much.

And I'm way to excited!! 20 days!! Can't believe its been like 9months nearly that we've waited! And we're starting to get daily updates from e4 :D

Yeah, I'd heard rumours that Freddie would have the first ep and I'm really pleased that's not the case. If Freddie didn't have an episode this year I'd be SO HAPPY, but I'm still not counting on it.

Ah, I care about Katie and Effy just as much about Naomi and Emily! And JJ. The rest don't bother me that much.

There's a list of episode titles on Wikipedia, not sure where it came from. JJ's down as having one on there. Also, I remember an interview via the Skins Twitter with a girl who'd been cast as his love interest, which surely bodes well?

Callum has a theory that Panda dies in episode one, which is why Thomas is emotionally devastated and Panda doesn't have an episode of her own. It's a theory I'm not buying into, because it is too horrible to contemplate.

Just seen that episode list and I hope it's wrong - I wouldn't want Emily and Naomi to have their episodes together at the start of the series. They probably wouldn't have much to do after that.

I've seen filming pics that have Lisa in what I'd guess is Effy's episode, so I don't think Panda dies. My theory is that Thomas' mum dies, but I don't have anything solid to back it up.

There's nothing solid, but a couple of interviews have indicated JJ is getting an episode over Freddie. Everyone acknowledges Panda isn't getting one (sad! episode four was my favorite) but it's a toss up between Freddie and JJ. However given the spoilers about JJ and a couple of interviews I'm leaning towards him. I hope I'm right- JJ is a fascinating character, adorable, funny and one of the few teens on tv, ever, with a mental illness. For a writer there's so much fertile ground to mine with him. Freddie, OTOH, is a whiny, petulant, self righteous emo twerp. He's practically like Sid except prettier. We've seen it all before. NEXT.

Oh, I'd be so happy if that's true! You're right, JJ is a million times more interesting than Freddie. I really, really hope the writers have realised how failtastic the Triangle of Doom was (they can't have missed the negative reaction to the finale) and give Freddie less to do.
