I just heard that Kate McGarrigle died. I didn't know a whole lot of Kate's own music, I mainly just think of her as Rufus Wainwright's mother, but I love the whole Wainwright/McGarrigle clan and find myself really upset at this news.

I don't really know what to say, so instead have a song which sums up why I love this family so much:

I knew she was diagnosed with cancer a couple of years ago, but I thought she got better. It definitely came as a shock to me. :(

Yeah, me too. Sad times! Am glad I got to see her perform with him, even if her music wasn't my thing.
