Obligatory Thursday Skins Post

I hated it. God, what a waste of space this entire series has been.

Okay, there were two things I liked. Obviously the best part was KATIE SLEEPING ON EFFY'S CHAIR ♥ ♥ ♥ and I also loved Karen's long list of things she likes. But the rest? Meh.

All the Cook and Freddie stuff was such bullshit I can't even summon up the energy to write about it. Just terrible.

The only way they could force Panda and Thomas back together was to make Panda a secret genius and Thomas a secret brilliant athlete so they could both go to Harvard together? Seriously?

They had so much to wrap up this episode but so much time was fucking WASTED by ridiculous bullshit that was obviously supposed to be funny but just wasn't, like Pandora singing and JJ and Cook dancing. Christ, they didn't even give Effy - motherfucking EFFY STONEM, the one character who's been around from the start - anything meaningful to do. What was her last scene? I can't even remember, that's how inconsequential it was.

And then there was Naomi and Emily. I'd heard there was a retcon but not what it was, and I'd heard that people were really happy with the spoilers, but I'm sorry, I hated it. I hated the retcon, because it obviously wasn't planned since last series, so that just cheapens Naomi's episode in series three. I hated that their reconciliation happened in front of everyone. I hated the stupid speech, and I hated Naomi's stupid hair. I can't believe that one speech is supposed to make everything all right, when they've been miserable living together for NEARLY A YEAR. NEARLY A FREAKING YEAR. This whole storyline has been so ill-conceived and horribly executed that it actually makes me angry, because the writers had such a good thing going with the pairing and they pissed it all away.

Thank fuck it's over.

Skins series 4 is now officially erased from my memory.

Same here. Oh well, there'll always be fic.

[identity profile] liev.livejournal.com 2010-03-18 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, that's the ONE good thing about Skins right now: the fandom (or well, some parts of it). I really hope there are going to be lots of fics to make up for this shit.

Honestly, I'm kind of worried that this series will have made people lose the will to fic instead of ~inspiring them. I guess we'll see.

Yeah ... it was already strangely quiet during the past few weeks.

Whatever, brb, applying to Harvard.

I think it's harder to write fic when we're getting new canon every week, but I have no idea if it'll pick up now it's over.

Apparently Harvard lets everyone in these days!

I wish I could say this Harvard ridiculousness was the thing I hated most about series 4/the finale, but sadly it just pales in comparison.

And apart from its own reputation and believability, Skins apparently also ruined my grasp of the english language. Is't applying for, jesus.

Yeah, it doesn't really compare to psychotic counsellors with baseball bats.

Actually, I think "applying to" makes more sense in the context you used.
