Occasional Saturday Doctor Who Post

OMGWTFTARDIS! :O My jaw quite literally dropped. I kind of feel like the crack in the wall stuff has been progressing slowly, just an obligatory reference at the end of every other episode, but OMGWTFTARDIS. NOW I'M INTERESTED. I mean, they're obviously NOT going to destroy the TARDIS, not permanently, but still!

Also, Rory! I wondered what was going to happen to him, because it seemed obvious that he wasn't going to be around forever, but that was particularly harsh. :( I liked him by the end! Although, that visual with the time energy was awesome.

And now to distract myself I have beer and Eurovision. :D

I must be a horrible person, I was totally totally pleased that they killed Rory off. He was just TOO BORING for Amy, and I saw no other way to get rid of him after their whole "I LOVE YOU NOW YOU'RE DUST" moment other than to kill him. So yeah. Pleased.

ALSO, there were some insane catchy songs on the Euro tonight; I found myself singing along with the German girl who thought she was American and sand like she was fram Landahn. Still, I wanted Romania to win with their fiery double-ender (LOL, LOLLL) or France. Srsly, THAT SONG WAS GENIUS.

I'm kind of pleased that they killed Rory off in terms of the long-term story, because he was a bit of a spare part, but I was still sad in the moment.

I was really pleased the German girl won! I loved her and her dodgy accent. Romania were good too, but I liked the French song more as a World Cup song than a Eurovision song. LOL @ our shameful last place; this is what happens when you bring in songwriters that haven't been relevant for 20+ years.

Oh no, I just spoiled myself! Do'oh. Well actually I wanted to see if the next episode of Who was going to be worth it- from week to week this show swings from dull to awesome. Matt Smith is always terrific though and he brings something interesting to his performance no matter how silly the plot is.

That said- I LIKED RORY. Not with Amy, but as a goofy, brave and affable side kick he was great. I know I'm going against popular opinion, but I'm not the biggest fan of Amy. She's couregeous, but also inexcusably reckless. So much so it feels like the Doctor is saving her half the time because she was too stubborn to listen. Plus, her constant pouting bothers me, sorry babes ;) I never shipped her with Rory, either, since most of the time her behaviour to him bordered on bitchy.

So now I don't know whether I want to watch the episode :(

Ps- how do you feel about the impending skins movie?

That's what the LJ cut is for, so people don't get spoiled! I think you should watch the episode anyway, it's quite good.

I think I'm turning out to not be Amy's biggest fan either? I like her quite a lot, but I don't think she's as vibrant as Donna or as badass as Martha - then again, it was only at the end of series three that I completely fell in love with Martha and she became the standard against which all other companions will be measured, so there's still hope for Amy. I would definitely prefer if Amy got to save the day more than she had to be saved.

Skins movie - meh. I honestly don't really care at this point. I'll watch it, but series four really did make me very bitter about the show.
