Speechless.

For some reason, IDK why, I wasn't expecting to like the Alejandro video all that much.

FUCK, HOW WRONG WAS I.

(I embedded it for lazy people but really you should watch it in glorious amazing quality here.)

Gaga > everyone in the entire universe.

ME TOO. I was convinced it was going to scare the shit out of me (fuck that preview, man) It's so somber, but so pretty (snow!) and- I don't even know. Also, gay porn starring a lady! LOLLLL.

LOLLL, THIS. I love how her last two videos have been super gay, but in completely different ways.

I hadn't seen the preview, I'd just seen a couple of stills and thought, "lol wut, that doesn't fit the song" but Jesus, it was so beautifully done. I feel like I have to go away and ~think about it now.

EVERYBODY GETS A TREAT.

And I took an accidental cap of the dog in the video (you know it's not a Lady Gaga video if there's no dog involved) and wondered if the usual one was fired because spots didn't fit the ~look of the video, then I remembered that dog was technically dead, and then I realized I was standing in the shower wasting over five minutes thinking about a dog in a Lady Gaga music video.

LOLLL ♥

Wow. I have to say I really liked this, and I'm not a fan of gaga. Well done.
I just wonder how much she actually contributes to the ideas and designs in her videos...

[identity profile] botherd.livejournal.com 2010-06-08 08:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, I think obviously the director is going to have a big role in determining the aesthetics, but I'm sure I've read that basically everything Gaga does is her own ~creative vision~.

[identity profile] fragmentfiction.livejournal.com 2010-06-08 08:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Interesting, I didn't know. Well thanks for posting the video - I've been watching it on repeat :)

This is the quote I wanted:

Taking credit for Gaga's sudden assault of the zeitgeist is a relatively easy task, as all parties who work with her on her label, management and marketing teams cite Gaga herself as the ultimate brains behind many of her creative and social-media ideas and tactics.

"When you're dealing with someone as good as Gaga, a lot of it is how to stay the fuck out of the way," said Steve Berman, Universal Music's president of sales and marketing.

(The article's more about her marketing, but I think the creative vision goes hand in hand with that - compare her early videos, when the record company would have had lots more control, to her latest videos, where she can do what the fuck she wants.)

Anyway, I'm super happy that you like the video even without being a Gaga fan!

[identity profile] fragmentfiction.livejournal.com 2010-06-08 08:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks for getting that quote!
I always assumed that she's simply a designed 'product' based on market research etc. I guess in this case maybe I was too suspicious...

Anyways, I'm still listening to it :)

Oh dude, fucking AWESOME!!

Also WOW how incredible does she looks in that trousers/waistcoat combo? OMG.

Isn't it just!!

And, YES.

One thing that I love about Gaga is that she gets something so right that most other popstars get wrong: every single video release is an EVENT. I can't remember the last popstar who got people excited about their latest video on a regular basis.

Also, as much as I love the 'Telephone' video, I'm glad that this one functions more clearly as a pop promo. I don't mind if she wants to go to town with an eight minute epic every time, but at least the song was playing for most of it this time. :)

[identity profile] botherd.livejournal.com 2010-06-08 09:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I completely agree! When I first saw that this video was eight minutes I kind of rolled my eyes a bit for those exact reasons, so I was also glad it wasn't a sort of mini-film like Telephone was. Not that Telephone wasn't awesome, but I think it's good for some of her videos to be more "conventional".

This. I mean, I guess most people's hardcore fans would be interested in new videos, but EVERYONE has to watch and comment on a new Gaga video. I think it's something that's only really happened with the last couple she's released, but I expect it will continue to be the case from now on.

I've only really noticed it since 'Paparazzi', because I think that was the one that made people sit up and take notice, but yeah - most other groups might get the buzz every so often because they release a video that's built up a bit of viral hype, but I can't think of anyone else who generates as much excitement as Gaga does purely on the basis that there is a new video coming that we don't even know anything about yet.
