LOL I'm such a stan. I EVEN VOTED FIVE TIMES.

FUCK YEAH, CHER'S IN THE FINAL. \o/

Okay, so I know that usually they just do a straightforward elimination at top five without a singoff, and they probably just did a singoff because Cher had the least votes and they wanted to keep her around. I DON'T CARE. She's awesome, and even though she'll probably be out first next week I'm just super happy she's made it that far. I'm crossing my fingers that her celebrity duet will be with Nicki Minaj and she'll lose her shit as completely as Alexandra did when she sang with Beyonce! And I can't wait to see her do Turn My Swag On again. :D (Presuming they do their audition songs again? They did last year, but obvs this would be difficult with One Direction. Oh well, hopefully!) Weirdly I HATED her audition when I first saw it but somewhere along the line I did a complete 180 and started to love her.

Also, last night: I love her so hard for not changing the gender when she sang Nothin' On You. It's always super distracting when people do that, so kudos to her for not being all, "zomg, what if people think I'm gay?!"

FUCK, I'M SO EXCITED FOR NEXT WEEK. BRING IT ON.

How can anyone not love her? How?

Part of what I love about Cher is that every week she has a new dance routine to learn (and has to look good next to professional dancers), a new song, and a new rap to remember. Past few weeks times all that by two. And she's only 17, yet she's amazing at what she does. *insert clapping gif. here*

/lol fellow stan right here :D

[identity profile] botherd.livejournal.com 2010-12-05 10:31 pm (UTC)(link)
omg that gif is precious. ♥

And, yes, I totally agree! I don't think she gets enough credit for her performance skills, which are so superior to everyone else's on the show it's not even funny. She has such great stage presence. Compare Rebecca, who thinks she's made lots of progress because now she's capable of walking from the back of the stage to the front of the stage.

[identity profile] sprads.livejournal.com 2010-12-05 09:53 pm (UTC)(link)
I totally agree with you- Cher deserves to be in the final- I think even if she doesn't win she will go far! She's just so relevant at the moment and different. I'm also hoping she will sing Turn My Swag On again- I liked her singing it the first time but I bet she will sing it better next time because she has become a lot more confident over the weeks! Who do you think will win?

Do you watch Strictly? If so who do you think will win that?

Off topic- I am so psyched for the Doctor Who Christmas Special the trailer looks awesome!

[identity profile] botherd.livejournal.com 2010-12-05 10:34 pm (UTC)(link)
I think Matt will probably win, although if he doesn't bring it next Saturday then One Direction could beat him.

I do watch Strictly! I was gutted that Scott and Natalie were in the bottom two this week; I had thought that they were likely winners, but now I'm not so sure. I expect them to make the final at least. Possibly Kara and Artem could win it? Or Matt and Aliona? I honestly couldn't call it.

Doctor Who trailer? I haven't seen it yet!

[identity profile] sprads.livejournal.com 2010-12-05 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
God I hope he doesn't win I don't like him or One Direction but I goes that the majority of the public disagrees with me!

What did you think of Glee on the X-Factor? I thought it was incredibly surreal and awkward. Was it just me and my TV being out of sync or were they lip-syncing because from where I was watching it- it was very obvious!

I was gutted too that Scott and Natalie were in the bottom two- but not surprised- I even said aloud that they were going to be it before they announced it. Unfortunately he hasn't been as good as he was at the start which is a shame! I'm hoping Kara and Artem will win! I thnik she has grown the most in the competition and is the best dancer- I mean the tango she did was just stunning! I think Matt is the dark horse though- he and Aliona get consistent high marks! I am so excited about the semi-final- especially the swingaphon! I think I am looking forward to that more than the final of the X-factor!

Yes the Doctor Who trailer- I'm not too sure if you want spoilers but here is the trailer just in case- it looks so amazing- BRING IT ON! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UBmb1vsjzDA

[identity profile] botherd.livejournal.com 2010-12-05 11:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, I like Matt. He's a bit hit and miss but he can be really better. He's way better than One Direction, anyway.

Yeah, I thought Glee were lip-syncing too; it sounded like they had quite a bit of autotune on their vocals. I found them a bit disappointing to be honest, although compared to the Black Eyed Peas they were amazing!

OMG, I totally flailed over that Doctor Who trailer. It looks so good! Can't wait!

[identity profile] sprads.livejournal.com 2010-12-05 11:32 pm (UTC)(link)
I agree Matt is definitely better than One Direction- we don't need another Boy band- Girl Band yes- coz the only band that can represent us are the Saturdays at the moment- but I think a lot of Boy Bands are the same- boring! I like that Matt has a huge range in his vocals and that he seems decent enough personality-wise I just don't feel it you know?

Glee's performance was a bit disappointing but it was still good to see them perform in the UK and I am sure loads of people enjoyed their performance despite the audio issues. As for the Black Eyed Peas performance- I just didn't get it and cringed the whole way through- it was bad on so many levels!

I KNOW RIGHT! I can't believe you hadn't seen it yet! I saw it on Children in Need for the first time- it was so good to see it that way- Matt and Karen hosted a tea party in the TARDIS! for two lucky brothers- it was very sweet- they are both amazing people! I don't think a Christmas Special has excited me this much before- maybe it's because it means that we get to see more of the fabulous and gorgeous Amy Pond or perhaps it's the fact that it's going to be a SPIN-OFF OF A CHRISTMAS CAROL! I love that book and all the movies that have come with it- it's a classic!

PS Is it ok if I befriend you? It's just that we seem to have a lot in common and it will actually be nice to see your posts automatically and not by accident via another friends page! :o)

[identity profile] botherd.livejournal.com 2010-12-05 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Ahh, I never watch Children in Need (or I haven't for years) so that's why I didn't see it then. I'm not normally that excited for the Christmas specials either but this one should be awesome! I love that they seem to be going for more of a fairytale vibe than a sci-fi one.

It's totally okay if you friend me! :D

[identity profile] sprads.livejournal.com 2010-12-06 12:15 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah I guess- I don't know why but I love Children in Need- even though it can be quite depressing. I guess it's because I work with kids and want to continue to do so in the future and I know personally how much of an impact the money is for programmes that are supported by it.

Yeah me too- they did it last series too what with the spin-off of "Pandora's box"- it makes Dr Who seem more magical and it suits more audiences and that's why it's getting more popular? Who knows! I just know that I love Dr Who and I love fairytale and therefore it's the perfect combination!

Who would you like to see as a guest star in the next series?- I personally want Megan Prescott (obviously) and Lady Gaga would be totally awesome in it!

Ooo that's that's awesome and I will! :o)

I don't really like Cher, or even think she's that great, to be honest, but she is the only contestant with any... zing, and personality, and stage presence. She's a "propah little pop star" as Cheryl would say, so I'm glad she's through to the final, and I think she and One Direction are the only ones who will remain well-known.

Actually I don't like anyone this year, I think it's a really low standard.

[identity profile] botherd.livejournal.com 2010-12-06 07:32 am (UTC)(link)
I thought you liked Matt? Have you gone off him?

I think the standard this year is better than last year, which was really quite awful; there's no one in the finale that's as bad as Olly Murs. I've actually enjoyed performances by 3/4 of the finalists (One Direction being the one act I never really enjoy) so I think it could be a pretty decent final. Or it could be dreadful, because they've all had some terrible performances before.

I don't really know how well they're going to do after the show. Apparently all four of them are getting record deals, and I think they all could potentially do quite well, but considering how often Syco fuck up they could all flop.

[identity profile] ems.livejournal.com 2010-12-06 11:10 am (UTC)(link)
Matt's probably my favourite, and I think his performance of First Time Ever I Saw Your Face was stunning, but I still don't think he's anywhere near the standard of previous years' contestants. And he hasn't got a lot of charisma (oh Aiden, come back, all is forgiven!), although there's something likeable about him. Even last year, which was definitely the weakest year prior to this, had Joe, who had no charisma but could REALLY sing, and Olly, even though he couldn't sing that well, had a lot of charisma. And Stacey was a much better version of Rebecca. Plus Jedward were funnier comedy contestants than Wagner. ;)

I like Cher's ruthless determination underneath her mildly crazy exterior, I think that's interesting.

I think One Direction have a built-in audience who are less than discerning, so they'll be fine. And I think Cher's too unique for us to forget about her; plus I get the feeling Cheryl will take quite an interest, which will help. I can't see Matt or Rebecca doing much.

[identity profile] botherd.livejournal.com 2010-12-06 12:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, Matt doesn't have a lot of charisma, but I sort of feel that as an indie type he doesn't really need it? IDK, I think he could do well in the 'real world' if he has some good songs. But mostly I like this series the most just because of my slightly irrational and ridiculous love for Cher. ;)

I like Cher's ruthless determination underneath her mildly crazy exterior, I think that's interesting.

Yes! I feel like she gets what being a popstar is all about, which automatically gives her an advantage over someone like Rebecca. I know there's a lot of anti-Cher feeling at the moment but I think if she comes back with a strong first single she'll be fine.

[identity profile] cheapantique.livejournal.com 2010-12-06 07:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Cher is amazing, she definatly doesn't get enough credit for her performance skills. Especially when you compare her to Rebecca.

Btw have you heard Ruth Lorenzo's debut single 'Burn'? It's amazing. I also recently heard her singing opera. Yes, opera. She's got the most amazing voice.

I always feel the best acts are best not winning, the only actual success Syco have had is with Alexandra. As Leona isn't managed by them. Thats why I think the best outcome would be for One Direction to win, as then at least they already have the experience of dealing with Westlife. Matt would go nuts under their managment.

Back to Cher...she pings my gaydar so much. I mean, not changing the gender and wearing a suit outfit and dickie bow tie. That performance was so gay! I just love her. She'll come fourth for sure but I suspect they wanted her in the final because they have a huge US star booked for her. They wouldnt have gone to all that trouble other wise.

[identity profile] botherd.livejournal.com 2010-12-06 08:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Haha yes, she pings my gaydar too! That performance was super gay, and I saw this interview she did with Perez Hilton where she actually said "Why haven't I got thirteen year-old girls screaming at me?" sounding all disappointed. Plus she's obviously completely in love with Nicki Minaj.

I think some of the acts that have been successful post-X Factor have had some sort of joint record deal between Syco and some other company that actually knows what they're doing (usually American), so that could be a good route for Cher if Simon insists on signing her. If they get Cher working with some American producers I think she could do really well. She just needs the right songs.

[identity profile] cheapantique.livejournal.com 2010-12-06 10:37 pm (UTC)(link)
I saw that interview too! Bit of a slip up there!

Yeah she's in love with Nicki and she also said she was obcessed with Cheryl in one of the very early interviews. We have a baby dyke for sure LOL

Yeah and if you look at Leona, I highly doubt she would have been as sucsessful if she hadn't of signed that American record deal. Cher defo has to have the right songs. I have faith though. I think she's going to be the most sucsessful act from this year.
