Obligatory US!Skins Episode Post

This is basically all I post about these days. IT'S LIKE TWO YEARS AGO.

It may have just been a copy of the original Chris episode, but whatever: I thought it was really good. (Of course, it doesn't hurt that Jack Thorne wrote it.) Maybe that's because it's been ages since I saw the original so I wasn't inclined to make lots of comparisons; I remember the story, but not exactly how it was done, so I didn't really have the original in mind all the time. I like this Chris - maybe not as much as Joe Dempsie, but I like him all the same. (Even if his voice is weird and kind of annoying.)

And I basically adore this whole cast, even with the dodgy acting. I love the group scenes! (LOL at everyone wanting to see Tea's tits. I DON'T BLAME YOU. /perv) The friendship is one of the main draws of Skins for me, and that's something that UK!Skins hasn't really got right in two generations now, so it's really nice to see it here.

Abbud is annoying, though.

I'm kind of nervous about where they're taking the Tony/Tea stuff - although, yay for continuity! Another thing UK!Skins has failed at recently - but as long as it remains one-sided, I don't mind.

Are there any previews for next week?

I'm so glad I wasn't the only one who liked it. I find this version really endearing, too. (And I even like his stupid voice. lol)

Yay, I'm glad you liked it too! I haven't really seen many people's reactions to it but it doesn't surprise me that people didn't like it, what with it being more or less the same as the original. But, whatever, for some reason I find myself ridiculously charmed by this stupid show, despite all its flaws.

That's the thing--while it probably wasn't as good as the original, if I'd never seen the original, I know I would've loved this. I'm trying to watch it with fresh eyes, and I have to say, I also really enjoy the chemistry between the kids. They seem like real friends! And I also think the acting may be (gasp) improving. IDK, I'm still charmed. Let's face it, I've watched a lot of shittier shows for less.

Hahaha, so true! Anything is going to look like a masterpiece next to South of Nowhere. I also think the acting is improving; some of the line readings are still a bit off, but I think by the end of the season some of them will be really good.

I haven't seen any negativity for 103, I have to say, everything I've seen has been positive. Yes it was a copy, but it was done originally, if that makes sense. I think Jesse brought a different sort of Chris to the table here and it was well appreciated.

Okay, actually the only negativity I've seen is for T/T. DNW, like, EVER, and most people agree. People were really pissed when they showed the preview for Cadie's episode and it's clear that T/T is going to be dragged out annoyingly long all season. T/T is definitely the most hated ship ... possibly in all of Skins, tbh.

Ugh, there's more T/T in the previews? Fuck that. If there's one thing that will really turn me off this show it would be T/T happening (more than it already has, I mean).

Overall I wasn't massively enthused with the ep, but that's probably my own fault since I watched Chris' ep so recently. That said, I rewatched today and liked it more. Chris is tough character to gauge and, the majority of the time, Jesse pulled it off.

It has to be said that I think Jesse has way better chemistry with Camille than that actress who plays Tina. I just don't buy it.

Also, T/T rubbish needs to DIAF. I'm praying to god that it's put away by the end of Stan's ep (where the choir stuff is, I think?) because I cannot stand it anymore. I'm not swallowing Bryan's philosophy that it's a journey and we have to wait. I'd rather have Tea fuck around on Betty or whoever with another girl, thank you very much. They made her so outrageously gay in all the promo, it seems contradictory backpeddle now for the sake of Dramah.

Cadie overhears T/T talking in the previews, so I think it's all gonna hit the fan soon, dependent on who she tells, of course. If she does.

I think that's understandable. It's like reading a book shortly before seeing the film adaptation - of course you're bound to notice the differences and compare to the original.

I agree that Jesse has better chemistry with Camille (which I enjoyed quite a lot) than the actress playing Tina. Also the Chris/Tina stuff seems squickier than Chris/Angie because Jesse comes across as a lot younger than Joe.

Seriously! It just seems weird to take a character who's already gone through the process of figuring out her sexuality, and then make her do it all over again. It's not like a straight person reassessing their sexuality, because a gay person's already done that. It also seems weird to have her go from laughing over how terrible the sex was to having ~feelings.

Exactly. I mean, it depends if there have been no sneaky edits in the preview - which there might - but it just feels like a big leap. I wouldn't be nearly so averse to it if they explained somewhere (all it takes is a line or two) that the Tony stuff had made her confused and made her doubt, because, well, we've all had moments like that right? Without that though it seems so out of nowhere. Not only is it bad writing, it's lazy writing, and those two qualities are things I don't readily associate with Skins.

Same feelings re: Chris/Tina. I'll be really happy if they jump straight to Chris/Daisy to be honest. I wonder if we'll see that in Daisy's episode?
