Oh man, it's KILLING me that the cricket is only on Sky (which I don't have), because this match sounds fucking amazing and listening to it on the radio just isn't the same. The highlights aren't on for HOURS and I would really like to see those two run outs, plz. ajfhkdsf the Ashes = one of my absolute favourite sporting events, AND WE MIGHT ACTUALLY WIN. \o/

Also, Dan Radcliffe taking the piss out of Geoffrey Boycott over the lunch break = EPIC LOLZ.

[identity profile] holeybubushka.livejournal.com 2009-08-23 03:16 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL- here I was thinking [livejournal.com profile] triptohere and I were the only cricket fans on livejournal! We've been SQUEEING about it all over the place (including sivi's journal.)

You need to stop being so bloody British. You've won. We're five down and three hundred runs adrift. Celebration time! You can exhale now ;)

I just came home from the pub so I missed the first two sessions, but I will no doubt see the runs outs on the highlight package tomorrow. I've been a cricket fan since I've been tiny and until recently an ardent Aussie supporter. However, even I have grown weary of us wining all the time and it's good to see England doing well. It's good for cricket for the first five teams in the world to all be capable of beating each other on any given day. Plus, the English team has a couple of lookers- despite [livejournal.com profile] triptohere and I being complete homos, both of us admire Stuart Broad muchly (I think it's because he's pretty JUST LIKE A LADY)

Here in Aus, the Ashes are available on free to air television. I think it's a travesty that it isn't in England. How is it good for cricket? The Ashes are one of those amazing sporting events. It's just cruel to restrict it to pay television only ;)

[identity profile] botherd.livejournal.com 2009-08-23 03:24 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL, well, if anyone can snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, it's England. ;) I mean, I wouldn't rule out the Aussies staying in for the rest of today and then rain tomorrow.

Stuart Broad is very pretty! And ridiculously tall, which is also v attractive for some reason.

The cricket used to be on free to air television, so I got to watch us win the 2005 Ashes, but it sucks that it isn't anymore.

[identity profile] holeybubushka.livejournal.com 2009-08-23 03:19 pm (UTC)(link)
I forgot to add- Geoffrey Boycott is MY HERO. I love him, like fierce. He is such a 16 year old girl trapped in an old man's body. I wish I could see that video of D-Rad making fun of him.

[identity profile] botherd.livejournal.com 2009-08-23 03:26 pm (UTC)(link)
He is such a 16 year old girl trapped in an old man's body.

LOLLL. He's hilarious! It was just a radio interview with Dan Rad, but it was still amusing. It might be online as a podcast, actually.

[identity profile] holeybubushka.livejournal.com 2009-08-23 03:37 pm (UTC)(link)
I hate to be an asshole, since I'm watching it on my free to air television in the living room, but Prior just took an amazing take. I'm so impressed by him. I thought he was useless in Geraint Jones mould. But not only is his keeping been top notch, his batting is pretty decent as well

Hussey just played and missed two deliveries. Stuart Broad is bowling like a BEAST. He managed to get Haddin in all sorts of strife. I doubt we'll last the day. No jaw jaw grabbing defeats this time, dude. ;)

Dude, Onions just dropped a sitter. GET HIM OFFFFFF. BOOOOOO.

I really want to find this podcast (if one exists). D-Rad is, so, so precious, I love him all the more for liking cricket and acknowledging how FIERCE Geoffrey is.

[identity profile] botherd.livejournal.com 2009-08-23 03:46 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't think the podcast is up yet but it'll probably be up here later today. They have the Lily Allen interview from yesterday, so I imagine they'll put it up there soon enough. (Tom Felton was there too, but he's not as adorable as Dan. And they kept saying that Broad looked like Felton, which, NO. Broad is far prettier.)

The highlights are on in two and half hours and I'm ridiculously excited about finally getting to watch. :D

[identity profile] pensierobello.livejournal.com 2009-08-23 08:59 pm (UTC)(link)
FELTON IS THOROUGHLY ADORKABLE. I DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT >:O

[identity profile] botherd.livejournal.com 2009-08-23 09:04 pm (UTC)(link)
He's all right (although, not pretty enough to be Draco. Not that Draco is canonically pretty, but HE SHOULD STILL BE PRETTY), but Dan Rad >>>>>>>>>>> Tom Felton. TRUFAX.

[identity profile] pensierobello.livejournal.com 2009-08-23 09:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh yah, Draco is blates uber pretty canonically. If he wasn't, Rowling wouldn't have done the written bitchslap of giving him a receding hairline, methinks. Felton can be really really really pretty in the films, though, but IRL not so much. But still adorable :D I love his smile. He is a DORK. Idk Dan Rad can look so vile sometimes. :(

[identity profile] holeybubushka.livejournal.com 2009-08-23 04:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Johnson just got out. Do you think you've won it now? ;)

[identity profile] botherd.livejournal.com 2009-08-23 04:22 pm (UTC)(link)
I JUST DON'T WANT TO JINX IT, OKAY. ;)

[identity profile] supergoodtimes.livejournal.com 2009-08-23 04:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Cricket fans! Just 3 wickets to go! (If you want to find the 20 mins chat with D-Rad and Tom Felton there is a link on the-leaky-cauldron (.org)
P.S. Broad > Felton - AGREED.

[identity profile] holeybubushka.livejournal.com 2009-08-23 04:34 pm (UTC)(link)
There are more of us!? YAY. I thought (female) cricket fans were a desperately rare species.

[identity profile] botherd.livejournal.com 2009-08-23 04:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Yay, another cricket fan! Only one wicket left! :D

[identity profile] holeybubushka.livejournal.com 2009-08-23 04:33 pm (UTC)(link)
OMG LOLLLLLLL- do you really expect Siddle, Clarke and Hilfenhous to bat for a day and a half? Even England of the Nasser Hussein era couldn't cock this up. Chillax. Have a Pims or something ;)

I'm still flabbergasted that England have managed to overcome that dreadful performance in the last test. I thought that would decimate their morale and that a draw was the most they could hope for. Broad really was the catalyst for all this. He is both pretty and magical.

[identity profile] botherd.livejournal.com 2009-08-23 04:37 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL, dude, I know we're going to win really. Just got Clarke out!

[identity profile] supergoodtimes.livejournal.com 2009-08-23 04:42 pm (UTC)(link)
It's TOO exciting! What a roll. This is the second time in a row we will have won them in England!

[identity profile] botherd.livejournal.com 2009-08-23 04:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I know, it's awesome! :D I can't believe it after how disastrous Headingley was.

[identity profile] holeybubushka.livejournal.com 2009-08-23 04:42 pm (UTC)(link)
THE END IS NIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGH

OH YOU DID NOT JUST USE AUSTRALIAN TV TO SHOW YOUR JOY OF ENGLISH VICTORY!!!

*is australian* :P

[identity profile] holeybubushka.livejournal.com 2009-08-24 06:59 pm (UTC)(link)
BWHAHAHAHAHAHA- SHHHHHHHHH, I was hoping them English folk wouldn't get the irony/connotations.

Dude, you're an Aussie skins fan, correcto mundo? How EPICALLY LAME is it that SBS only just got around to airing it this week. Absurd. Thank Meg for the internet and illegal downloads, is all I'm saying.

I think it's retorted all this talk about sacking Ponting. It's not his fault the selectors are inept and his side is full of newbies who don't always perform. Some people=stupid.

[identity profile] supergoodtimes.livejournal.com 2009-08-23 04:49 pm (UTC)(link)
YESSSSS!!!!! That was amazing!!!!!!

[identity profile] botherd.livejournal.com 2009-08-23 04:51 pm (UTC)(link)
I STILL CAN'T BELIEVE IT!!!! \o/ \o/ \o/ OMFG OMFG OMFG

[identity profile] holeybubushka.livejournal.com 2009-08-23 04:52 pm (UTC)(link)

Being an Australian, one of these days I'll start supporting my country's team. Until then....

VICTOOOOORRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!

[identity profile] botherd.livejournal.com 2009-08-23 04:54 pm (UTC)(link)
I THINK IT'S AWESOME YOU SUPPORT ENGLAND!! :D :D :D

[identity profile] supergoodtimes.livejournal.com 2009-08-23 04:56 pm (UTC)(link)
OMG. An Australian supporting England in the ashes is a total mindfuck. But brilliant nonetheless.
WOOOO!

[identity profile] holeybubushka.livejournal.com 2009-08-23 04:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Only because we used to rule the WORLD. I'm a fan of cricket first, then my country. England sometimes winning is GOOD FOR CRICKET (Australia has won for too long, really.)

Who will be the man of the match? I think my pseudo boyfriend Stuart Broad should get it. Without those crucial five wickets and knocking the Aussie's off for only 160, they wouldn't have been able to bat Australia out of the game.

[identity profile] botherd.livejournal.com 2009-08-23 05:06 pm (UTC)(link)
He got man of the match! I'm so happy for him. :D

[identity profile] supergoodtimes.livejournal.com 2009-08-23 05:03 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm going to miss Flintoff!
Stuart Broad is definitely a strong contender for man of the match, he was for me!
Soooo happy right now!

[identity profile] botherd.livejournal.com 2009-08-23 05:07 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm really glad he got it! :D He definitely deserved it.

[identity profile] holeybubushka.livejournal.com 2009-08-23 05:06 pm (UTC)(link)
YEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS Stuart Broad!!!!! LOVE

I'm friending you, supergoodtimes, I hope you don't mind

[identity profile] supergoodtimes.livejournal.com 2009-08-23 05:09 pm (UTC)(link)
I LOVE HIM!
And sure, likewise. :) *Off to celebrate* EEEEEE

[identity profile] triptohere.livejournal.com 2009-08-23 05:14 pm (UTC)(link)
I AM VERY LATE TO THIS PARTY, AND AM RUSHING TO ANOTHER, BUT I'D JUST LIKE TO SAY I LOVE YOU, CRICKET GEEKS!

PARTY TIME!

[identity profile] botherd.livejournal.com 2009-08-23 05:20 pm (UTC)(link)
YAY, THE MORE CRICKET GEEKS THE BETTER! \o/

[identity profile] triptohere.livejournal.com 2009-08-24 03:51 pm (UTC)(link)
CRICKET GEEKS UNITE!

(friending you btw, hope you don't mind. But what with the cricket and the 'what house is Effy in' convo you have further down on your LJ page, I think it is only appropriate.)

[identity profile] holeybubushka.livejournal.com 2009-08-23 05:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Go and get drunk, you English, you.

LOL- I can't believe I have to pretend to be sad about this tomorrow. My tutor for Print Media will FAIL ME if he knows I support England.

Seriously, you guys. Go forth and get drunk.

[identity profile] botherd.livejournal.com 2009-08-23 05:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Working on it! :D

[identity profile] torak303.livejournal.com 2009-08-23 10:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Damn. I has an Australian fail. My god did we SUCK?!? I couldn't believe when I saw we were all out for 160, that's a Twenty20 score!!!

(thank god there is SOMEONE on my flist that cares about cricket, though)

[identity profile] botherd.livejournal.com 2009-08-24 11:52 am (UTC)(link)
Well, you didn't suck any harder than we did in the previous test, that's for sure. I just like that it's become more of a competition these days, because you guys have dominated for so long.

[identity profile] holeybubushka.livejournal.com 2009-08-24 07:07 pm (UTC)(link)
CRIIIIIIIIICKET. I have one RL friend who likes cricket, but she's really only cares about one dayers, so she'd be a bit useless right now. But [livejournal.com profile] torak33 look at it this way- we've dominated the WORLD for over ten years (1995 till...late last year, I think). Everytime a team would play Australia, a match that was even competitive was a rarity. Sure, there was 05, but that was a special bunch of English crickets and they couldn't build on the momentum. Now, on any given day, South Africa, India, Sri Lanka, Australia and England are all capable of beating each other. That's fantastic. Good for cricket that things are competitive. If Australia starts to lose on a regular basis, I'll be back supporting them hardcore (I can't help but root for the underdog, I guess.) I will be hoping they get up for the one dayers, because losing TWO series to England just won't do.

Everyone should care about cricket. The OTHER PEOPLE are freaks, you guys, not us.

[identity profile] excitedrainbow.livejournal.com 2009-08-24 07:47 pm (UTC)(link)
LATE TO THIS PARTY BUT WE WOOOOOOOOOON!

OMG I can't believe it. And we have some younger players who look like they will replace Freddie nicely, hurrah!

[identity profile] botherd.livejournal.com 2009-08-24 07:52 pm (UTC)(link)
I'M STILL SO EXCITED! \o/

Yeah, Broad looks like the natural successor to Freddie, and I was really impressed with Trott too. What a great debut for him!
