botherd | (no subject)

I kind of feel like I'm at a loose end now NaNo is over! It's been a weird one this year (but then, I feel like it's always a different experience and a different challenge) but although it's not perfect, I'm mostly satisfied with how it turned out. I've never written an ensemble fic before and it's given me an all-new respect for the Skins writers, because you know how they get criticised for weird pacing and not focusing equally on all the characters and dropping storylines and all of that? Yeah, well, THAT SHIT IS HARD. I mean, I think I did okay at juggling nine characters, but I know that Thomas and Freddie got shafted and now nobody will know that in the background they were totally having a torrid love affair. :(

More for my own reference than anything else, here's what I'm working on next:

They can be stressful, but they're fun! And I get more done if I have a deadline, so I like doing them.

Seriously, you did a great job, and I can imagine it must feel strange for it to be over after all that writing in one month. Looks like you still have enough to keep you busy though!

Can't wait to read the 80s AU, and dude, I'm pretty sure you could make Katie/Emily work. And I, for one, would totally be eager to read it ;)

I've tried to figure out a way to make Katie/Emily work before but Naomi keeps getting in the way and can never decide if she wants to join in or not. Maybe once my challenges are done I'll give it another go!

Dude, I'm glad I'm not you. I can hardly get myself to learn for an exam these days, much less write thousands of words of something substantial.

LOL, in my experience writing fic has always been much much easier than writing essays or revising for exams or anything like that. :D

Oh, I don't know about that. I haven't written anything in ages, and even back in my productive days a one-shot felt like a huge achievement. I'd say it's my age showing, but you're actually older than me, which does nothing to support my argument, you know. Why is my f-list so much cooler than me?
