I suspect that tomorrow is not going to be a good day.

Shamelessly stolen from [livejournal.com profile] andthatisthat:

So, who's voted? My candidate isn't going to win - I sadly live in a safe Tory constituency, and I voted Lib Dem - but I still think it's important to have your voice heard. If you're eligible and you haven't voted yet, do it now! There's still a little over two hours left to do so. :D

(I'm crossing my fingers that I won't wake up tomorrow to find that David Cameron is Prime Minister, but I'm not optimistic. SIGH.)

I don't loathe the Tories either, Jules. I really feel the economy is the most important facet of this election. No one, even those of us living in your former criminal dumping grounds, wants the British economy to go into free fall,. Your debt is enormous. If the Tories can reduce it, then god speed to them. Socially, they're not too bad either, certainly better than the "mean party" conservatives over here who don't like public services that won't deliver them instant votes at an election (universities and our public broadcasters took massive funding cuts, plus they made information gathering for journalists about ten times harder...just, ugh). That one bigoted MP seems like an outlier and may not reflect the Tories as a whole...

That being said, I would have voted LibDem because they have some sensible ideas about debt reduction and their social policies are great. Why replace those old nuclear subs for like for like? Save the money. The immigrant thing...I think costs them loads of votes, but is the right thing morally.

Also, proportial representation is only system which seems truly democratic to me.

Alas, the LibDems tanked something big time. Very sad aboout that. WHY DID THE MEDIA GET MY HOPES UP. My fault for checking the Guardian daily, I guess.

(We have an election later in the year as well, and TRUST ME, Tony Abbott <<<<<<<<<<Nick Cameron, I swear. (pps- Please don't stress, Julia! I get stressed when you get stressed)

I agree that the economy is the most important issue, but my worry is that they won't fix it - they might reduce the debt, but at what cost? You can't cut £6bn of public spending in a year without cutting jobs, and people in my immediate family, including myself, work jobs that rely on government spending. This is why I'm worried.

But, hey, if they can save a bunch of rich people hundreds of thousands of pounds by raising the inheritance tax threshold to £1 million, I guess the Tories aren't so bad. *eyeroll*

The problem with the Lib Dems is that the voters are too spread out - they got 23% of the popular vote but less than 10% of the seats. That's why we need proportional respresentation, but as it would only help the Lib Dems the other parties will never go for it.
