botherd: (true blood: jessica is stupidly pretty)

(no subject)

- I had a dream last night where I made out with Jessica from True Blood. It was kind of awkward and not nearly as awesome as it should have been. THANKS, SUBCONSCIOUS. :/

- Remind me why I sign up for fic exchanges? I'm already starting to freak out about my [livejournal.com profile] femslash10 story. The deadline's still a month away, but all I have is half an outline for a story that feels like it's going to be long.

- I think it's nice that Joe McElderry came out (for those that don't know, he won the last series of The X Factor), but I can't believe how overblown the whole thing was. Most gay male popstars have one ridiculously splashy "I'M GAY" tabloid headline, but Joe had TWO. Have we not moved on from that sort of thing now? It all feels very 1999.

- Zac Efron is ridiculously pretty. I have such a weird platonic crush on him (also on Matt Bomer, oh my God. How is he even real?). You know how straight girls have girlcrushes? Yeah, it's like that.

- The other day I came up with an idea for an original story that I feel just may be my Big Idea That Actually Goes Somewhere. (Of course, I usually think that about my original ideas, and they never are.) It's like a dystopian/sci-fi YA thing and I feel like it actually has a lot of potential, but I actually have no clue how to go about writing a novel outside of the constraints of NaNoWriMo. I don't know if I can stick with a project for that long, especially now I have less time to write.

- I hear the new Sherlock series is good. Is it? I'm not really in a rush to watch yet another story about two straight white dudes, but I might give catch up with it online if I can be bothered.

- Apparently the lesbian that's replacing the Maxxie character in the US Skins is going to have much more to do than Maxxie ever did? I'm pretty sure that, what with this and the lesbian/bi character in Gen 3, BE and JB are cynically cashing in on Naomi and Emily's popularity and are now just throwing lesbians at everything because they know there's an automatic fanbase there. AND IT'S TOTALLY WORKING. Hands up who's more inclined to watch something with lesbians in? (I know I am. I watch Pretty Little Liars, for fuck's sake.)

AND IT'S TOTALLY WORKING.

Isn't it awful? LOLLL

ALSO I AM SO GLAD TO HERE YOU EXCITED ABOUT YOUR ORIGINAL IDEA. I WILL TOTALLY CHEEERLEAD WHENEVER YOU WANT.

Meanwhile, I am sad that your making out with Jessica was awkward. WTF your subconscious, indeed.

Isn't it awful? LOLLL

We're so easy. :(

CHEERLEADING WOULD BE AWESOME! :D Provided I, you know, ever get around to trying to write the damn thing. Maybe I'll try and write the prologue just to start off and then plan it out properly.

Only my subconscious could manage to mess up something as simple as making out with Jessica. SIGH.

First Sherlock ep had equal numbers of references to gay couples as straight, which made me :D Was also very enjoyable as a story. This week's was good, but not as fun.

Zac Efron has the most amazing hair. His teeth terrify my friend with their whiteness, heh.

[identity profile] botherd.livejournal.com 2010-08-01 09:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, that makes me happy! Still a bit annoyed that Steven Moffat had to do the obligatory "WTF, Holmes and Watson aren't gay" interview, though. Anyway, maybe I'll give the show a try; everyone seems to enjoy it.

Hee, don't all Americans have ridiculously white teeth? I'm not sure Zac's are any whiter than the norm.

[identity profile] coloursofdusk.livejournal.com 2010-08-01 10:18 pm (UTC)(link)
They're just too perfect! It's unnatural. ^^;

OH MY ZEFRON!! *______________________*

I have this irrational dislike of the new Sherlock series because of the failTASTIC comments Steven Moffat made about it, even though I recognise that does not mean the SHOW is failtastic. I also don't think either Benentetcbcneien Cumbtcerbnewpthc nor Martin Freeman are hot, SO.

[identity profile] botherd.livejournal.com 2010-08-01 09:30 pm (UTC)(link)
HE IS SO PRETTY. IF YOU'RE NOT FRIENDS WITH [livejournal.com profile] andreas_ri YOU SHOULD BE, HE HAS BEEN POSTING A MILLION AMAZING ZEFRON PICS.

Yeah, I saw that Moffat had given the obligatory "WTF, Holmes and Watson aren't gay" interview that everyone seems to give about all iterations of Sherlock Holmes. SIGH. So I don't think your dislike is entirely irrational! I had an irrational dislike of the RDJ/Jude Law version and that really was based on nothing.

This week's Sherlock had Zoe Telford being awesome, which should be enough for anyone.

[identity profile] botherd.livejournal.com 2010-08-01 09:43 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't actually know who Zoe Telford is, but obviously this is my cue to find out!

Basically I would make her play me if there was a film of my life, even though she looks nothing like me, because she is fierce.

I know exactly what you mean

Mmmmm Jessica. Mmmmmm Zefron. Mmmmm Bomer. This post is 100% approved.

♥!

(I know I am. I watch Pretty Little Liars, for fuck's sake.) THIS. Sometimes I feel totally taken advantage of because I watch things only because they have lesbian storylines, and then they end up sucking. No visability is better than terrible visibility! (Although I may or may not actually be loving PLL. Dont judge.)

[identity profile] botherd.livejournal.com 2010-08-02 06:26 am (UTC)(link)
LOL don't worry, I'm loving PLL too! I just realise that objectively, it's not exactly... good.

[identity profile] immortality.livejournal.com 2010-08-01 10:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Hands up who's more inclined to watch something with lesbians in? (I know I am. I watch Pretty Little Liars, for fuck's sake.)

*raises hand* I know that's how I first got into PLL anyway ...

YOU CAN TOTALLY WRITE YOUR FEMSLASH10 FIC! *cheers you on* Seriously, bb, I do have confidence in you! It's only 1k; I am certain in your ability to bang out something completely awesome.

As for your Big Idea That Actually Goes Somewhere, if you feel more comfortable writing during NaNo, why not just wait and do it then? That makes the most sense to me. I think if you can at least write up a rough draft, you'll feel more motivated to work on it after NaNo is over, yeah?

[identity profile] botherd.livejournal.com 2010-08-02 06:30 am (UTC)(link)
I think I found a way to make my [livejournal.com profile] femslash10 fic manageable, so I'm feeling a bit better about it now.

My problem with NaNo is that everything I write for it sucks, and if I haven't finished the story off in 50k I just don't ever finishing it. (Seriously, one year I was about 1000 words off completing the story and never got round to it.) So I'd like to work on it properly, I just don't know if I can.

[identity profile] holeybubushka.livejournal.com 2010-08-02 03:39 am (UTC)(link)
AND IT'S TOTALLY WORKING

AHAHA, YES! (and if only there were lesbians in cricket, then it would be the perfect game) I initially tuned into PLL for the cute homo, and have stayed because of the whacked out mystery (and Spencer, just cause she's awesome). The actress who plays Emily sucks a little bit and Bianca Lawson looks like she should be playing her teacher, not her girlfriend.

Due to the BE factor I was going to watch UK skins anyway, but now I have an added incentive. However I feel very conflicted about the bounty of lesbians skins is throwing our way. On the one hand, it's not just because they did Naomily they now have no more stories about teenage lesbians to tell (no one would say that about a straight character). Tea looks like she's going to be a different girl than Naomi or Emily and it'll be refreshing to see a lesbian character who (probably) won't be going through a "coming out" storyline. OTOH, I also feel like Skins is a bit desperate to keep the fanbase they have, and keeping a lesbian character is a crucial facet in this. Frankly, I made a pact that unless people like you swore to me the writing has noticably improved, I'm completely ignoring season 5 and 6. Yet this potentially lesbian character in season five has me intrigued. I'M SO CONFLICTED, J-CAKES, TELL ME WHAT TO THINK, PLEASE.

(I'm probably not going to watch UK skins, because right now I can only muster up the energy for the movie and US skins).

I'm deeply saddened that your subconscious let you down. Jessica is one of my favorite characters on tv. (I once had a dream where I was making out with Xena, but had to stop because a Koala kept looking at us. Yeah. I was 16 and realised that my subconscious was never going to give me a break, ever).

Dystopic novels are my favourite, so I'm really excited about this. Maybe you should do NaNo (esp. since last year was so fun). I'd only use Nano as a draft, though, since the time constraints mean you write something, but with a bit of time and editing, almost all Nano stories are much improved.

[identity profile] botherd.livejournal.com 2010-08-02 06:34 am (UTC)(link)
I think I'm approaching series five with the attitude of "JB is a hack, what lulz will he provide this week?" But of course I'll probably end up really loving series five and then they'll ruin everything in series six. That seems to be the pattern.

LOL @ your Xena dream. (I never watched Xena; I'm a terrible lesbian!) Why must our subconsciouses do this to us?

I love doing NaNo, but my problem is that usually my NaNo novels are so bad that I lose all will to work on them afterwards. I'll probably still end up doing it though, just because I'm unlikely to start writing it beforehand.

I love how the tabloids just have a default setting for coming out headlines. It's always (PERSON'S NAME): I'M GAY. Presumably because that's the only way they can think of to do it without being entirely offensive.

Ohh, Matt Bomer is ridiculously pretty. Whenever I watch White Collar I always think he looks like a younger Don Draper.

New Sherlock is v. good and definitely worth watching, but they had a few too many "lol, not gay" gags in episode one for my personal taste.
