This is why I hate the Brit Awards.

BRITs most tedious album of 30 Years

Coldplay - A Rush of Blood to the Head
Dido - No Angel
Dire Straits - Brothers in Arms
Duffy - Rockferry
Keane - Hopes & Fears
Oasis - (What's the Story) Morning Glory?
Phil Collins - No Jacket Required
Sade - Diamond Life
The Verve - Urban Hymns
Travis - The Man Who

JESUS CHRIST. Are those really supposed to be the ten best British albums of the last thirty years? Really? I just... *weeps*

(And yet if Gaga's performing as she's rumoured to be, I won't be able to skip this farce like I usually do. SIGH.)

lolll, dido? are you fucking kidding me? hahahahkjdhfksjdhf.

[identity profile] botherd.livejournal.com 2010-01-18 08:43 pm (UTC)(link)
SHE HAS REVOLUTIONISED BRITISH MUSIC, OBVIOUSLY.

[identity profile] likeits4ever.livejournal.com 2010-01-18 09:00 pm (UTC)(link)
I HAVE NO WORDS :|

[identity profile] botherd.livejournal.com 2010-01-18 09:13 pm (UTC)(link)
YOUR ICON IS SO APPROPRIATE.

[identity profile] supergoodtimes.livejournal.com 2010-01-18 09:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh god
Hate Dido, can't stand Duffy, don't get me started on Coldplay, are you kidding me with Keane? Oasis and the Verve are quintessential BritPop but have no right to be in that list (probably the only reason that they are).

JUDGES DON'T HAVE EARS. THEY CAN'T.

Music lovers across the country are probably getting, like, a migraine right now or something.

[identity profile] botherd.livejournal.com 2010-01-18 09:13 pm (UTC)(link)
THIS.

[identity profile] botherd.livejournal.com 2010-01-18 09:14 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL, most succinct response yet.

[identity profile] fab-fairy.livejournal.com 2010-01-18 09:17 pm (UTC)(link)
FUCKING KEANE? UGH.

[identity profile] botherd.livejournal.com 2010-01-18 09:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't even think they're the worst offenders. :(

[identity profile] fab-fairy.livejournal.com 2010-01-18 09:51 pm (UTC)(link)
You would if that was the only album your mum played for about 6 months.

[identity profile] botherd.livejournal.com 2010-01-18 09:53 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL, my mum played Dido for ages and I'm convinced she's worse. Just, ugh.

[identity profile] fab-fairy.livejournal.com 2010-01-18 09:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Lol, I thiknk if you look at the top-selling albums of the decade it shows just how much the charts and things are influenced by people's mums :p

[identity profile] smeetie.livejournal.com 2010-01-18 09:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Wait - this covers thirty years? It would be lame if it only covered one...

[identity profile] botherd.livejournal.com 2010-01-18 09:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I know! Frankly, it's an embarrassment to the British music industry.

[identity profile] mesoterica.livejournal.com 2010-01-18 09:51 pm (UTC)(link)
I-- wow, I'm not even British and I'm still vaguely offended by that list.

[identity profile] botherd.livejournal.com 2010-01-18 10:13 pm (UTC)(link)
I should think that anyone with ears would be.

[identity profile] torak303.livejournal.com 2010-01-18 09:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Huh. According to your own industry awards, you guys have wasted 30 years. Jesus, way to avoid ANYTHING INTERESTING. it's like they went by what single 49 year old men have in their car exclusively.

Personally, it would have all 5 Muse albums. Not that I'm biased or anything... or seeing them in a week from today... *GLEEEEEE!!*

I'm pretty sure if our awards here did the same thing to Australian music it would be just as boring. It always seems like the bands that everyone uses as staples of Australian rock music are ones I can't stand.

It's no fun being smarter than everyone else... Sigh. :P

[identity profile] botherd.livejournal.com 2010-01-18 10:15 pm (UTC)(link)
it's like they went by what single 49 year old men have in their car exclusively.

Considering who music critics are, I think that's exactly what they did.

Have fun seeing Muse! You're right, they definitely deserve a place on the list.

[identity profile] shadowings.livejournal.com 2010-01-18 11:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Yessss, have so much fun at Muse, they definitely put on the best live show I've seen ever. (also buy earplugs)

[identity profile] rock-whirlpool.livejournal.com 2010-01-18 10:13 pm (UTC)(link)
who the fuck are these people? speaking as a british 17 year old who is pretty musically aware... I can only say: WUT???
I know who some of them are, I like Coldplay and some songs by The Verve but to say that these are the best of the last 30 years??? any idiot can see that that could never be true!
to be honest with the way this list looks I'm surprised Susan bloody Boyle didn't make it!

[identity profile] rock-whirlpool.livejournal.com 2010-01-18 10:15 pm (UTC)(link)
my bad I also have ONE song by dido

[identity profile] botherd.livejournal.com 2010-01-18 10:17 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL well, I've heard of all these people, but they're about as middle of the road as you can possibly get.

[identity profile] rock-whirlpool.livejournal.com 2010-01-18 10:19 pm (UTC)(link)
looking them up, they all seem like good sort of music to have on in the background but don't really stand out as being particularly exemplary

[identity profile] shadowings.livejournal.com 2010-01-18 11:01 pm (UTC)(link)
WHERE IS RADIOHEADDDDDDDDD? And, well, I love Muse in all its superhero music glory, but I wouldn't necessarily say it was revolutionary music, but hell Muse could mop the floor with so many of these artists.

Coldplay's not so bad. It's a travesty Radiohead's not even on there as number one, and I like Viva la Vida better, but still, Coldplay's not so bad. And well, the Verve, they're not so bad either. And Oasis. Pretty cool. But Travis is so mediocre. And Dido. And Duffy. And I can't tell Keane's songs apart from each other.

Er, anyway. Blergh.

[identity profile] botherd.livejournal.com 2010-01-18 11:18 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not even a big Radiohead fan but I'm kind of amazed they're not on there. I mean, when it comes to British music of the last thirty years, surely they're more important than fucking Dido.

[identity profile] ems.livejournal.com 2010-01-18 11:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Duffy?! And that's not even the least crap Coldplay album. in fact it's the MOST crap one. Oh lord.

[identity profile] botherd.livejournal.com 2010-01-18 11:24 pm (UTC)(link)
I think I made the mistake of listening to A Rush of Blood to the Head once. NEVER AGAIN.

[identity profile] michaelbush.livejournal.com 2010-01-19 09:32 am (UTC)(link)
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...

Oh...

Wait...

What?

I thought this was satire.

Brilliant. So, at the age of nearly-29, this basically tells me that no good music has been released throughout my entire life. :(
