Well, Naomily has been one big disaster (with fun moments) this season, but everything involving Cook has been great and the Unseen bits are some of the best things Skins has ever done. So one badly handled storyline isn't gonna put me off the potential for good stuff to come.

I guess I think it's more than one storyline that's been handled badly - there's something really fundamentally flawed with the structure of this series and if they keep it up I can't imagine the next series is going to be any better. Plus, with the shark-jumpage that was the last two minutes of Effy's episode, I'm not sure they can ever recover.

Cook's episode was good, but I thought him breaking out of prison was ludicrous and negated a lot of the character development his episode showed. Haven't seen any of the Unseen bits though; maybe I should check them out.

I did do a big reply to this, dunno what LJ did with it.

Basically, I liked enough of it and of previous Skins stuff to assume that they'll be plenty of things that are at least interesting about the next Gen. And it's unlikely there'll suddenly be loads of better shows to replace it.

As for Cook I thought the breakout was just them tapping back into the other side of his personality after his relatively emotional, tender few months.

Unseen things were all great in their own way but the Naomily and Panda ones were best - the former is amazing artistically and the second is the best story to involve Panda over the two series. If they'd taken their cues for the series from that one clip then it would have been fucking amazing.

Finally, your complaints make a lot more sense after watching episode 7. In what way did they think that would make a good ending? And now I'm pretty sure (although still spoiler-free) that they've gone and cocked up the finale, because they've just added ANOTHER huge storyline to the mix with, oh, absolutely no time to cover it. Jesus Christ.

I'll be watching Gen 3 and US!Skins too, if it ever comes out. I don't really expect it to be any good and I'm not really looking to get attached to the characters either. But I stuck it through with Buffy, House, and other fandoms even after they'd gone to shit, so. *shrugs*

Good to hear! Although even if the finale does have some good stuff happen I don't know if it'll be enough to redeem the mess that was the rest of the series.

I often stick with shows even when they go downhill but I'm getting better at giving them up now. I think if series five fails to improve in the first few episodes I could easily let go.

I'll be watching in order to identify which one will randomly die, like a cracked out episode of Midsommer Murders. I'll also be watching because apparently I hate myself, and enjoy putting myself through needless pain.

Me and this show are so not friends right now. I've heard the spoilers are good, but I'm genuinely not sure if anything can be good enough to allow me to fight my way out of the shit I feel we've been collectively wading through.

I felt bad discussing it, because one of the Yr13s was really invested in Freddie/Effy. Like, I didn't like the guy, but randomly killing him seems a low blow, but that girl was in a state of part denial, part rage. I felt so sorry for her.

The rest of them thought it was buggering codswallop, tbh. We no longer have time for a full breakdown (exams, yo) but they couldn't get over the idea that it wasn't just a normal person to took a bat to Freds, but 'a consellor! The most rational of the rational!'

And yeah, I'll be watching it, hopefully they'll have learned something from this gen. I still can't believe what they've done to such an amazing cast and these characters that I love, but basically, I'm taking the good moments where I can - those are what made it worth it. I dunno. I can't help still loving it, despite it's MANY MANY flaws.

I'm glad! Although I'm also wary of getting my hopes up, because I had zero expectations for Effy's episode and it still managed to be worse than I could have imagined.

I still love the characters to pieces, even if I don't love the show. I really do hope they listen to the criticism of this series and do it better next time.

Well you won't be disappointed with the bit we've seen at least, but it probably is best not to get your hopes up. Who knows, they might all just die in a tragic car accident/fire/whatever. Let's hope not though eh? :p

LOL I was really torn about the poll, since I was never that into Gen 1 anyway. But it's hard to say without seeing the new cast, since that's the only thing that kept me around for Series 4. So for now, I'm done, but who knows.

I'll throw a wrench into this- I think the "retcon" makes sense. I'll elaborate on it after the episode airs.

The spoilers are ok. All the other character stuff is going to overshadowed by DEAD!Freddie. How are we supposed to be squeeing when JJ/Cook/Effy are going to to be devastated by the news? While they're not my favorites, I'm still concerned for how they're stories are going to end up(JJ's my little fruit bat!) Cook might never recover from it. Ironically, for a mental basket, JJ might be the most well equipped to deal with one of his childhood friends being murdered. He has lots of support networks and he's managed me make connections outside the trio.

I'm just hoping for a twin scene. I love Naomily, but the twin interacting always fascinated me the most. Their relationship is so twisted yet loving and is so multi-faceted it's shocking to me. DO NOT IGNORE THE TWINS, BRYAN, OR I WILL CUT A BITCH.

I don't have time to watch the gaga clip. But I will. Oh yes, I will (I don't even love her music that much but whatever, I honestly think she's an artistic GENIUS)
