Fuck, I love 6Music. I never used to listen to the radio because they're all full of annoying adverts or obnoxious DJs that aren't nearly as funny as they think they are, but I started listening to 6Music after I heard that they were going to get rid of it and I LOVE it. Lauren Laverne is so awesome.

Anyway, I actually opened up the update window to ask you all a question about your fic preferences. Specifically: how do you feel about fics that switch PoV between two different characters? Does it bug you? I'm not really a big fan of fics that switch PoVs, but I have a fic idea that just might demand it. :/ The problem is, the bulk of it wants to be from character A's perspective, but there are some scenes that would only really work from character B's PoV because character A isn't even involved. What to do??

I used to feel wary of writing switching PoVs until I realized several of my favorite stories had them. You just don't notice if it's well-written; it's not jarring, and it sometimes makes the story feel more dynamic. I mostly see switching-PoV stories that have one scene or part from one PoV, one scene or part from another and so forth, so I'm not entirely sure what yours would look like, but, as I said, as long as it's ~organic/a natural development of the narrative, it shouldn't be a problem.

Yeah, that's what I was planning, having one part from one character's PoV, then the next part from the second character's PoV. I think one of my main concerns is that I don't think I'd be sharing out the scenes equally, and if I had the majority of it from one character's PoV and just a handful of scenes from the other character's PoV, that might make it feel a bit... lopsided.

You know, actually I think that kind of imbalance is only really noticeable to the writer, especially when you use an outline and can see the lack of symmetry. It's a bit like my waning obsession with equal-length scenes, where you (universal you, or probably just me) feel like it's a creative issue but actually it's just you being OCD about technical orderliness.

That's a good point! I can also get a bit obsessed with scene length and whether it looks weird to have scenes of varying length, but I don't think I've ever noticed that in a fic I've read. So, thanks, that's reassuring! :D
