Fuck, I love 6Music. I never used to listen to the radio because they're all full of annoying adverts or obnoxious DJs that aren't nearly as funny as they think they are, but I started listening to 6Music after I heard that they were going to get rid of it and I LOVE it. Lauren Laverne is so awesome.
Anyway, I actually opened up the update window to ask you all a question about your fic preferences. Specifically: how do you feel about fics that switch PoV between two different characters? Does it bug you? I'm not really a big fan of fics that switch PoVs, but I have a fic idea that just might demand it. :/ The problem is, the bulk of it wants to be from character A's perspective, but there are some scenes that would only really work from character B's PoV because character A isn't even involved. What to do??

If I did write switching PoV I don't think I'd switch too much, and I'd make sure it was clearly defined - I hate it when people switch in the middle of a paragraph or something like that. The fic I'm talking about isn't actually the one I'm writing for you, but I promise I haven't forgotten about your fic! I feel terrible that it's been taking me so long but I will get it done. :)

I don't even mind me some commercial stations (when they actually play music) but I would have missed out of so many great times without BBC6!
On the fic thing I don't mind a change in PoV but I prefer the change not to be every chapter.. and it would be better if one of the character's PoV was dominant.

It's interesting that you'd prefer that one character's PoV was dominant, because I would've expected that most people would prefer a more even split. But that works out well for me, because I think I would have the main focus on one character with just bits from another.

With the POV thing, I don't mind mixed perspective. Although I suppose I like them clearly defined- like, perhaps sectioned off, or something? Ugh, it's late and I've got the flu, but do you get what I mean? Clearly defined povs, since I'm personally not the biggest fan of a pov suddenly changing one POV to the next.
I just saw the afterellen hot 100. Go Loveless! Go KPress. And, awww, yay, Meg is there as well! The picture they picked for Kaya, though, is downright scary.
Hope you're going well <3

I don't want to talk about this too much, since this is Julia's lj, but were you happy with the result? I love the Libdems, and hopefully they can bring out the nice bits of the Tory policies (I'm a big civil liberties kind of fan, and the conservative state government where I live has just issued a whole bunch of draconian laws which makes me sad). I'm also impressed with any political party who wear yellow so proudly.

I can't believe how long it's been since I've written anything! The fic I'm planning now isn't Skins though, and I'm not sure whether you're familiar with the fandom (Legend of the Seeker). I definitely agree that if you're going to switch PoVs, they have to be clearly defined.
The AfterEllen list always cracks me up. Anyone who's ever played gay, or is gay in real life, is guaranteed to make the list. (Do people really find Ellen Degeneres hot? Really?) Also, yeah, that pic of Kaya is terrible. She's so photogenic! How could it be that difficult to find a nice pic of her?

Re: switching POVs. Sometimes a story calls for it! It can be irritating when done seemingly arbitrarily. Sometimes it can make the story feel disjointed, or not cohesive—just a series of interlocking scenes from multiple perspectives. Or, worse, the same scene from multiple perspectives, and never, ever as interesting as Rashomon (the beauty of multiple perspectives is in showing how people in totally different ways, or in introducing an unreliable narrator). It can be done right, though, and I totally trust you can do it.

I think I'll have to plan it all out before I decide whether to use multiple PoVs. If there are only a couple of scenes that really call for a different PoV I'll probably decide it's not worth it and find other ways to convey the same information.

Re switching PoVs, I'm not really a fan but that's mostly because I like the build up to the romance more so than that the actual getting together (I think I'm possibly in the minority here but I adore UST!). I find the switching of PoVs kinda gives too much away in that regard...I adore happy endings as much as the next but I would prefer one character pining away without necessarily knowing (as a reader) what the other character is feeling.
That said, like most have said, it can be (and has been!) done well so I've no doubt you'll do it well!
