I think the real winner here is Taylor Hicks, who is officially no longer the worst American Idol ever.

Not remotely surprised that Lee won, even though it's obviously bullshit. I'll be interested to see how they try to reboot the show next year, because they've got to do something to try and get a winner who isn't yet another moderately attractive white guy with a guitar.

Is it just me, or is Poker Face a really weird choice for a mother/daughter duet? I mean, it is quite obviously about fucking. Awkward.

Bad Romance was amazing, though, as was Tina being a vampire.

because of my secondhand embarrassment, i had to fast forward through the "bluffin with my muffin" bit. so awkward.

I kind of wish I'd fastforwarded it, I have to say. It was awful!

Me and Sam had to skip through it! It was so awkward and weird! And Lea and Idina CLEARLY had no idea how to act it as well, poor things.

YES, they looked so embarrassed and that just made it WORSE. OMG, WHY.

Hazel and I sat through about five seconds of Poker Face before we screamed with combined embarrassment squick and had to skip through it. WHY WHY WHY also what a waste of a Lea/Idina duet D: D: D:

IKR?? Lea/Idina singing together is guaranteed awesomesauce, AND YET THEY FUCKED IT UP. (The show, not them.)

Poker Face was such an awful choice. I don't even... Idina Menzel deserves better. Lea must be getting used to some of the highly inappropriate song choices by now at least. Bad Romance was awesome though. I fell in love with Santana that little bit more.

Santana was AWESOME in Bad Romance. And, yeah, if you only have Idina Menzel for limited time, why waste her on that? They could've been amazing on, say, Speechless.

Apparently it took 6 hours to film Bad Romance!!!! Those poor kids. So hardcore though.

And yea, Poker Face. Weird. Nowhere near as good as I Dreamed A Dream. Now THERE is a song for Idina to rip up!!!

All the previous Idol winners being on stage just reminded me how incredibly out-classed Lee is vocally in comparison. *sigh*

ngl, I laughed, even though it's sad because it's true. I just really hope a girl can win again in future seasons, but it's looking less and less likely.

Glee is kind of making me fall in love with Santana/Naya. They're letting her sing, and she's good, and I don't even know how it's happening

I was going to watch the final, and then I saw the download was 1.09 GB and thought I'd just check the results instead. I'm glad I didn't waste my time! Seriously though, you would've thought that being able to sing in tune would be a basic requirement of an AI winner. Apparently not!

I agree, Santana is becoming amazing! You'd think that next to Brittany she'd just be 'the other one' but I love her in her own right, and together they rule the world.

I posted on a friend's facebook status that Lee has the distinction of being the only idol winner who can't actually sing on key and she got super offended. I'm not gonna judge anybody for liking the tone of his voice (clearly the David Cook/Daughtry/Nickelback sound is popular with a lot of people) but hitting musical notes is a quantifiable, measurable thing and it's a simple fact that the man does not hit the right note a good portion of the time. Try pointing that out to a tone deaf person, though, and it's seen as an insult.

Agreed. In 'Falling Slowly' I could actually see Crystal trying to keep Lee in tune, and only kind of succeeding. The final results made me sad :(

I can see why someone would get all defensive over the favourite, but it's pretty stupid when people try and act like he's not off-key (I have kind of rubbish pitch and even I notice it, so it must be bad), or, worse, that it doesn't matter.

SIGH. The only good thing that came out of this result was that I actually called Lee as the winner during the small-stage semifinals, because he was a non-threatening white guy with a guitar, much to my boyfriend's amusement. So I got to gloat about my amazing Idol-winner-predicting skills. But yeah, in a fair world, Crystal would've won.

I actually really liked Poker Face. I decided not to bother thinking about the lyrics too hard and just enjoy the arrangement. Bad Romance was epic, though. I think they should all wear those costumes every week. Especially Finn.

I don't know whether to praise your predictive skills, or lament American Idol's predictability. Hopefully now there have been three WGWG winners in a row, people will start to get bored with that and look for something different in an AI winner, but who knows.

I liked the arrangement of Poker Face but it was pretty much just Gaga's own arrangement. IDK, it still weirded me out too much.
